Zafarraya,
Malaga, Inland Costa Del Sol, Andalucia, Spain
Zafarraya
Zaffaraya
is a pretty village with about 2.500 inhabitants and relies mainly on the market
garden produce which is grown all around the village. Situated north east of
Malaga, inland from the Costa Del Sol in the heart of Andalucia Spain, the
village consists of the old town with it´s ruined church and whitewashed houses,
and new development, still whitewashed but with a more modern feeling. There are
pretty squares where you can sit and watch the world go by, tapas bars, shops,
banks etc. If you want a feeling of the real Spain, you will find it here in
Zafarraya. It is not on the 'tourist trail' but the people are warm and friendly
and the old town, one of the true 'white
villages' is well worth a visit.
Zafarraya lies at the foot of the north face of the Sierra Tejeda Mountains and nestles in an abundance of green pastures and vineyards, with pine forests climbing the side of the mountains to the craggy heights that are covered with a blanket of snow in the winter. Because of its proximity to the coast and fine agricultural land Zafarraya has been populated since prehistoric times and has many historic remains.
