Salar

Salar is a pretty 'white village' of 2500 inhabitants. Tucked away just off the main Malaga to Granada motorway, (and out of earshot), it is well worth a visit, plus it is only 20 minutes to Granada airport.

Salar is a small sleepy town during the day that seems to come alive at night as locals meet up at one of the many bars or head out to one of the two buzzing restaurants. There is a municipal swimming pool, schools, new medical centre, dentist, chemist, banks, a gym and shops for most neccessities. It also has a weekly fruit and veg market.

Salar also boasts one of the most well preserved medieval towers in the area, as can be seen in the photograph on the left.

Salar is a 20min drive to Granada airport which is serviced by Ryanair from Liverpool and Stansted, and Monarch from Gatwick. Salar is only 30 mins to the lake districts of Bermajales and Iznajar, and 15 mins to the town of Alhama de Granada, famous for its natural spas and moorish baths. Salar is also perfectly situated being less than an hour to both the coast and Skiing in the Sierra Nevada.
