About Iznájar

Iznájar is a labarynth of typical Andalucian houses, set around the picturesque Lake Iznájar. With a small population in the pueblo, serenity and tranquility are an appealing characteristic of this beautiful village.
Located near the southerly border of Córdoba province and serving as a natural entrance to the Sierra Subeticas Natural Park, Iznájar is only 35 minutes away from Malaga aiport and the coast of Mijas Costa.
The spectacular location of the houses provides the perfect setting for anyone who desires a residence away from the coast but would still like to retain "sea views".
Located on the Lake is Valdearenas Beach and with white sand and pure water, bathing, water sports and fishing are extremely popular and highly recommended.
Average temperatures in Iznájar are approximately 28°C in summer and around 15°C in winter
In the winter there is skiing at Sierra Nevada, less than 40 minutes away and the main centre of Córdoba is only 50 minutes.

At the top of the hill rises the Castle, which so juts into the province of Granada that Iznajar seems to belong more to Granada than to Córdoba. The Castle is a Muslim-era fortress whose construction was begun in the eighth century, and next to it is the Santiago Apostol Church, a typical example of Renaissance architecture in the province of córdoba.

The hermitage of Antigua or La Piedad is another monument not to be missed. Such treasures as its Holy Week, when the traveller will see processional parades by curious Biblical figures such as the Jews, Pilate, the apostles, the Romans…an authentic stage production like the presentation of the Passion of Christ, in which more than one hundred people participate.

If you want to enjoy nature, the so-called “Lake of Andalusia” is a gorgeous spot for bird watching, fishing, water sports or camping.
